[00:12.76]He added that the strike may have been an accident. [00:17.36]The plane went down after it took off from Tehran's main airport. [00:22.84]All 176 people on board were killed. At least 62 were Canadian. [00:32.72]Trudeau did not give details about the evidence. [00:37.04]But he said a surface-to-air missile appeared to strike the plane. [00:44.12]Earlier, two United States officials said it is very possible [00:49.76]that an Iranian anti-aircraft missile shot down the plane. [00:55.08]The officials spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity. [01:01.60]They did not explain why Iran would shoot down the plane. [01:07.20]One U.S. official told the Reuters News Agency that U.S. satellites [01:14.16]had recorded the launch of two missiles just before the plane crashed. [01:20.64]The launch was followed by an explosion. [01:24.52]Two U.S. officials told Reuters they believe the missiles were launched "accidentally." [01:32.36]These officials all spoke anonymously. [01:37.08]U.S. President Donald Trump addressed the issue at a news conference this morning. [01:42.64]He dismissed Iranian claims that the plane suffered a mechanical failure. [01:49.08]"Somebody make a mistake on the other side," Trump said, adding, [01:54.68]"Some people said it was mechanical. I personally don't believe that is even a question." [02:02.68]Iran has asked the National Transportation Safety Board of the United States to assist in the investigation. [02:12.28]The request came through the International Civil Aviation Organization, [02:18.00]anonymous sources told The New York Times. [02:21.08]Investigators from Iran's Civil Aviation Organization offered no explanation for the disaster. [02:31.08]Iranian officials first said the crash was caused by a technical problem. [02:37.92]Ukrainian officials agreed. [02:40.48]Then, Ukrainian officials appeared to back away from the Iranian decision. [02:46.48]They said they could not come to a conclusion while the investigation was ongoing. [02:54.76]Ukraine said a missile strike could be one of several possible causes of the crash. [03:02.52]Oleksiy Danilov is secretary of Ukraine's Security Council. [03:08.88]Danilov also said there are other possible causes being considered, [03:15.48]such as some kind of flying object hitting the plane, a terrorist attack, or a mechanical problem. [03:24.84]However, no terror group has claimed responsibility for the attack, [03:30.76]and the plane was only three and a half years old. [03:36.44]The crash came just a few hours after Iran launched a missile attack [03:41.92]against Iraqi military bases housing U.S. troops. [03:47.20]The attack answered the killing in Iraq last week of an Iranian general by a U.S. airstrike. [03:55.60]Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said [04:00.44]he planned to call Iranian President Hassan Rouhani about the crash and the investigation. [04:08.56]"Undoubtedly, the priority for Ukraine is to identify the causes of the plane crash," Zelenskiy said. [04:19.00]"We will surely find out the truth."
